Bing Offers SEO Tools

Search engine Bing has always tried to differentiate itself from Google in that they return high-quality, relevant, better results. While Google holds the lion’s share of the search market, Bing continues to add value for users. They recently introduced SEO Reports and SEO Analyser, which will allow marketers to analyse their traffic and performance. Let’s take a look at the tools.

SEO Reports

According to Bing, the reports are “based on a set of approximately 15 SEO Best Practices.”  Webmasters will be able to access reports via an account. It works by running a scan of all the domains listed in a particular account and generating a report for each. They are scanned automatically, and the report will include suggestions to improve SEO.  The reports are run every other week so day-to-day site stats are not overemphasised.

This is a helpful tool for those relatively new to SEO. Presumably, the 15 Best Practices will be expanded to add more value to more advanced or experienced users.

SEO Analyser

This tool scans any of your verified domains and generates a report. It will determine if this specific page complies with each Best Practice. On the left side of the page, you will see SEO Suggestions if there are items that are out of compliance, as well as an error count for the page.

On the right, compliance items are noted on the page. To indicate a compliance item, there is a button with a +1 in the center. When you hover over this button, it will explain the specific issue. You can also click “Expand,” to show a full explanation. This is a great visual and a clear way to see how page elements interact.

Again, this is a tool that can be very informative to those new to SEO or businesses who want to understand and tweak their techniques. Unlike the SEO Report, the Analyser can be run as-needed so you can scan pages whenever you like.

SEO Report and SEO Analyser are not earth-shattering, never-before-seen tools; Google’s Webmaster Tools offer very similar features. It is a great help, though, for those who want to depend less heavily on Google results and improve the quality of their pages even further.
